from awareness to action

Sanchild is delighted to introduce Stéphanie Armangau Pro, who designed and will facilitate trainings for our projects in the Balkan region dedicated to Behavioral Analysis; the unconscious bias of the first contact and first impression, self-esteem and interpersonal violence.

Stéphanie says that “All these 4 topics have one thing in common: from awareness to action. It might not change the whole world, but attendants will be able to better understand the human brain, how it drives our decisions and how we all can hijack our automatic thoughts and perceptions to improve our open-mindedness.”

“When I met with Sanela within our Rotary Club: Geneva International, I couldn’t stop thinking of my refugee classmate, Edin, I met more than 10 years ago while I was preparing my Master’s degree in Management in Normandy (France). I’ll always remember that day when we visited the Normandy American Cemetery at Omaha Beach. We both had enrolled into a program dedicated to European Union and this type of visit was meant to explain us the why of Europe, the why of Peace. While I was sharing my grand-parents´ experience with the Nazis I could see that Edin was highly affected by the huge amount of graves we were walking around. Then we spoke about Bosnia, about Srebrenica. I was a young adult, we were about the same age, and from that emotional connection we had that day, war and terror became mine as well. It was not a vague history thing related to my family two generations ago anymore.

Right after I joined Rotary in 2017, I became curious about that “From Inner to Outer Peace” project everybody was talking about. I went to all conferences sponsored by San Child foundation. We became closer and closer with Sanela, the founder of San Child, to the point where I joined her to Sarajevo to discover her home country. We had very deep conversations about her experience over there. And I decided to face the truth by visiting the local Museum of Crimes against Humanity and Genocide. From that moment I said yes to her proposal to become a speaker on Behavioral Analysis (my expertise) at her bootcamp focusing on Building Trust in Balkans. I am now in charge of a training I built dedicated to unconscious bias, first contact and first impression, self-esteem, and interpersonal violence. All these 4 topics have one thing in common: from awareness to action. It might not change the whole world, but attendants will be able to better understand the human brain, how it drives our decisions and how we all can hijack our automatic thoughts and perceptions to improve our open-mindedness.

I am honored that ArCom (my training company) has been selected to be part of such a smart vision that peace simply starts within us and basically how we decide to deal with our neighbor.”
